After the news that WestJet will be terminating their MasterCard and all long flights would increase from 1600 points to 3800 points, I decided to pick a city I have not seen and go before the change.
We settled on the most expensive flight we could by going coast to coast to Vancouver. Conveniently scheduled around a 4–stop Weird Al tour, this will be my second attempt at seeing him live.
Total cost for two: 3200 points + $390 in taxes and airport fees (regular price: about $2300)
I have now taken advantage of Air Miles for 3 trips (6 tickets) and the booking process remains to be simple and very friendly providing you don't need specific flights. Their system seems to be as restrictive and useless as TicketMaster. You request two days over the phone, and their system finds you a flight. Don't like it? You can ask them to search again but probably get the same results.
