Zapping your PRAM was a simple casual-conference idea between silverorange and reinvented that resulted in a four day weekend at Dalvay-by-the-Sea. There was no theme, just general talks that didn't necessarily relate to the previous. This is a very brief overview of Zap 2008.
- Peter Rukavina talked about Plazes and tracking your daily life. Very similar to how most attendees were Twittering everything they were doing
- Hanna Donovan talked about being a service designer at Last.fm
- Brad Turcotte explained the process of writing, recording and releasing a song license free
- Mark Leggott talked about the University Library and open source software
- Steven Garrity hosted a "Why Does Design Matter?" panel with Paul Kim, Peter Sikking, Jes Sherborne, Matthew Domurat and John Hawbaker
- Ian Williams and Tessa Blake talked about being involved with the Hollywood writers strike and the process of writing a TV script
- Nick Burka talked about art history archives and organizing photos online
- Rob Paterson explained the financial crisis
- Dan Misener talked about hosting a radio show on CBC and pushing people to the Internet
- Dan James hosted a work panel with Paul Maloney, Deane Barker and Peter Rukavina and talked about the difference between a 2 person company and a 1000 person company
- Dan James released and explained why silverorange built ClusterShot.com
- Paul Bloore and Leila Boujnane showed their image search technology
- Rannie Turingan had a small lighting setup and did attendee portraits
- There was lots of food, a football and soccer game as well as live musical performances from John Connolly and Tim Chaisson
Here are a few photos from the weekend
