Weird Al 2008 Lynwood Tour in Photos
I'm still a bit bitter about my 2004 Orlando show experience disaster but that's in the past and it was about time again to see Mr Alfred Yankovic live for the first time. Last week I found myself with tickets from coast to coast and off to British Columbia I went.
Since he was playing 3 times in the area, It was only right to go twice. One to enjoy from the front row balcony, one to photograph from front row floor.
First thing first. I would like to thank the Red Robinson Show Theatre for not being so anal about cameras and allowing me to take photos from my seat. Unlike the Royal Theatre in Victoria, I did not need to hide the camera from the constant "no photos" lecture to the dozens taking photos anyway. I'm not using high quality gear so there should be no harm in taking non-flash photos if it doesn't disturb anyone around me.
Second thing. Thanks to Al, the band and everyone that makes it happen. It was truly amazing and much more choreographed with props, lighting effects and confetti explosions then expected for over 2 hours. The production and timing was a work of art. Since the Straight Out of Lynwood tour of 2007-2008 is officially over, I figured this isn't a spoiler.
On to the Photos. I have way too many to post them all so I selected just a few and grouped them in order of the playlist.
I had to drive to Victoria for the first show and booked a hotel for the night. Much to my surprise when I got there, was Weird Als tour bus parked outside. I was much closer to the theatre then I had thought. My hotel room is the window behind the bus with the curtains pulled back. During the day while I explored the city, I did see all of the band members except Al. He was the only one not seen off stage.
Just the one photo from the first concert in Victoria. After the show, four of the band members were on the sidewalk signing but again, no signs of Al.
Second Concert in Coquitlam. I didn't have a clear view of Bermuda, so no photos of Jon Schwartz.

What happens when one brave person runs up to the stage and is surrounded by security trying pulling him back to his seat? Al comes down (still singing) and interferes on the side of the rebel. However, as funny as it was and as much as I wish that was me brave enough to wrestle security, it did encourage many others to try the same thing resulting in extra security to clear the area out. Funny the first time, out of control for the rest.
"Albuquerque"
Albuquerque is an 11 minute song that he magically forgets where he was near the end and starts the song over again.
Well done! When's the next tour?

Thank you for posting these great pictures of Al's concert. My friends and I were at the one in Springfield, IL and had a wonderful time. I think that this was the best tour ever. Great job guys! Thanks again,
