It can be extremely weird to draw attention to yourself about something that has nothing to do with you but that is just exactly what happened this past week.
For the second time this month, a major spike in web traffic to my post of screenshots talking about the updated Google Earth. Even Google had troubles with the demand and stopped accepting new members (screenshot). I suppose the disadvantage of making the software free.
However, a bigger surprise was the email requests I received from Wired and Future Tense looking for my opinions and thoughts of this not so new application. Putting myself in the awkward position of talking publicly about software I only casually use seemed like a very bad idea but hey, I agreed anyway.
It doesn't take much to draw attention to yourself when you start talking about something before it's release, especially when talking about Google. It can even make you look smarter about a subject then you really are.
The Internet can be a powerful place.
