In the summer of 2002 I bought a Graphire tablet from Wacom not knowing if they were going to be as good as they claimed to be.
Frustration was an understatement as I attempted to use what seemed to be a very difficult. When the pen came in contact with the tablets sensor, it acted as a left click even before reaching the surface. Consider using your mouse with the left button locked down.
Looking for ideas/support/drivers on the web I consistently got:
”It will take time and some frustration to get use to not using a mouse.“
”The pad is scaled to your monitor. Where you click on the pad, it will click on the screen.“
From these comments alone, hardware was never even considered as the main problem.
PhotoshopWorld changed all that with the demo tablets setup in the Wacom booth. Now everything made sense because these worked and were so much easier to use. Why? The tablet I purchased came with a broken pen.
If you have experienced similar things, the pen is not suppose to click until you actually press down on the tablet. The levels of pressure are in the pens tip and not how close you are to the pad.
My new replacement pen arrived today and all is working well. Too bad it took me this long to realize.
