For someone that never travels, I ended up on 4 trips this year. San Francisco, Toronto, Orlando and just recently San Jose. While flying over the country, I can't help but wonder what's below?
On my way home from my Orlando trip in September, the LCD screens had some cool visuals I wish they would do more often. The display would rotate between 3 screens.
- Flight Route and Current Location
- General information including Altitude, Ground Speed, Latitude and Longitude.
- Where to look for the closest city and how many miles it was away.

It's pretty funny on long flights over the Pacific when they do this as for long stretches of the flight the location screen just shows a plane over a big blue screen. Not too helpful. Agreed though, it's a cool feature (when there's something to see).

You could get yourself a GPS like a Garmin 196 (296 for the colour version).

I've often thought it would be interesting to have a GPS on ALL THE TIME, and map your geograpical footprint for the past year (life) in a color coded histogram sort of format.
