Why public voting doesn't work.
I've been a sucker for reality shows lately and one that I have been watching weekly is American Idol. The idea behind this is that each week, the contestants will sing and then public will vote on their favorites (average of 4 million votes). Who ever has the least amount of votes is voted out until one is left.
The problem is that everybody votes for the worst hoping they won't be voted off next. When the list of the bottom 3 is announced, it has been very unlikely that they are the same 3 as the previous week.
Ruben Studdard has by far been the best in the competition but seeing how he has never been in the bottom 3, nobody voted for him assuming he would be safe. I'll speak for everybody and say we were all shocked when he was almost voted off last night
My prediction will be that he is not be in the bottom 2 next week no matter how bad he performs, It will be the ones with the most votes this week.
