There was a show listed on the TV guide today related to "design usability - how to start a webpage" which seemed great at first glance. It was setup in a typical interview type scenario where the one asking the questions didn't seem to know a thing while the other acted as the genius. This seemed fine as they explained the key was to design for the users and their systems in mind.
The problem started with their demonstrations using Internet Explorer 3.0. If this is not bad enough they explained how a text editor would do a good job but FrontPage 1.1 was a much more effective tool. I watched for a bit and then went to a few of their reference sites but they don't seem to be available.
Is an educational TV program for training really that useful when the content is that out of date?
This reminds me of another conversation I had before about how channels play Dave Chalk Computer Life over and over. It looks pretty bad when you see Dave promoting a new product and how well it is when the show original aired 3 years ago and the product is now obsolete.
