Everybody else is doing it, so [sarcasm]what the hell[/sarcasm], I will t0o. The following is all about my first computer experience.
Nintendo: Pre-computer days
I grew up wanting a computer but never owned one until 1996. That's right, I was a late bloomer. I never even used a computer until grade 10 when I took a keyboarding class using First Choice (I think it may have been a 286).
My First System
My first computer was a used 486 I bought from my cousin. The days of WarCraft began on this 256 meg hard drive with Windows 3.1 and a 14.4 external modem. Less then a year later it was time to buy a real system and I went to a local computer store and asked for the fastest system they could give me. A week later I was taking home a PII 300mhz (Win95 / 32meg RAM / 4gig HD / 4meg Video / 14inch monitor). Duke Nukem took over and I never looked back since.
the College years
I left high school and went directly into a computer programming course at Holland College where I learned all about network gaming and software piracy. Our first year was on a group of 486 machines running Windows 95 and then we got to upgrade to the big beasts (Pentium 233) for second year.
Computing Today
Currently I run a desktop (800mhz / 256meg RAM / 60gig HD / 128meg Video / 19inch monitor) and an IBM ThinkPad (2ghz / 512meg RAM / 60gig HD / 16meg Video). Oh, how things have changed in the way we work.
My favorite classes in high school easily became Computer Literature and Art. Kinda funny how I ended up on the creative design team for a local web development company.
