Why is Toshiba Canada so much different that Toshiba in the United States?
In August of 2001 I bought a 3.3 mega pixel camera from FutureShop here in Canada but 2 years later the Canadian website still does not list cameras as a product of Toshiba.
Just recently I decided to buy some accessories for my discontinued camera while I still could and went to Shop Toshiba, selected approx $200 worth of products for my model and continued through to the checkout screen where I found out that shipping was not available outside the US.
I still wanted a new battery, bigger memory card and a lens filter so I ended up ordering from a reseller they recommended. Everything was still the same price but why must it be this difficult for Toshiba products?
The problems continued with a small disclaimer:
Canadian Orders: Any duties, tariffs or broker fees are not included in the order amount and will be collected by the shipper upon delivery. Any such fees are the responsibility of the customer.
I order things online frequently (usually from the States) and charges range from 0-10 dollars max. Yesterday the courier showed up with a $64 bill from customs. Add that on top of the $23 for shipping and I've just paid $87 to get a package here.
I guess they thought my battery was a bomb.
