Now that the Montreal Rocket are known as the PEI Rocket, the logo and website look like a quick hack of the original design. Couldn't we start fresh instead of floating PEI to the top left?
The team was named after Maurice "Rocket" Richard. Wouldn't PEI Rockets sound better?
Games begin August 24th

On the splash page, the PEI text doesn't even really line up. It totally looks like a hack.

Singular names for sports teams are relatively uncommon: The Utah Jazz is one example I can think of. They were the more reasonable New Orleans Jazz in their first manifestation. I would have preferred the Mighty Duck.

Update: They have changed the splash page a bit and lined up PEI but it still looks dumb.

according to Rocket management, no companies on PEI are able to match the current level of quality that the current webmaster can offer.

A good history of the Rocket Logo.
<blockquote class="quote">This expansion franchise, founded in 1999-2000, was named after Montreal Canadiens legend Maurice (Rocket) Richard.
"When we decided to start this franchise, I was playing golf with my father,'' says Serge Savard Jr., the team's general manager. "The team name came right away. "I said, 'How about a junior team? We should name it the Rocket for Maurice Richard.
I thought my father (former Canadiens defenceman Serge Savard) was going to say, 'Are you crazy?' But right away he said, 'That's a great idea.' So we contacted a few of our friends and eventually bought a team."
The Rocket colours are red, white and blue - the same as the Canadiens, for whom Richard played all of his 18 National Hockey League seasons.
"When you look at our logo, there's a big No. 9 to signify Maurice Richard's number," Savard Jr. says. "There's also an eye, which symbolizes the determination and aggressiveness he had. I think Rocket is a natural name for a team in this city."</blockquote>
