As much as I have the desire to upgrade and try new things I managed to put off Windows XP until this week. I did however try to install a beta version way back before the official release and had problems with it so that could have been a factor in waiting so long to make a more permanent upgrade.
Overall so far, I am impressed with the ease of use. I have never seen an install that was so user friendly. I dropped in the CD, booted up and let it run for 35 minutes. Next thing I knew I was looking at the Windows XP desktop with all my drivers all ready installed and ready to go. I was truly a perfect install, I'm not sure if this is the case for everybody.
Some key features I have notice in the early goings. They really did a good job on trying to prevent me from using software from other companies, everything I needed to do, Windows did it for me where before I needed to download and install various programs.
Another impressive highlight was when I hooked up my digital camera. "Windows has detected a removable device" and then it gave me the option to copy pictures to the hard drive and clean off the smart media card. With a click of a check box, it will continue to follow this process without any user input.
It's still early so I don't have too many comments but I will update at a later date. As soon as I feel that XP will be my new OS I will be formatting my second hard drive and install Linux 7.1.
